Alex Pretti & Renee Good

We are devastated at the news of the murder of 37 year-old Alex Pretti at the hands of ICE in the streets of Minneapolis this morning. Alex was a nurse in the ICU caring for severely injured veterans at the VA Hospital. He was acting as an observer, filming a raid, and helping to direct traffic around ICE vehicles. He ultimately died while trying to help a neighbor off the ground after she was pushed by aggressive ICE agents. They were both tear gassed before several officers ripped them apart and subdued Alex onto the ground, disarmed him of his lawfully concealed weapon, and proceeded to unload 10 rounds into his body.

Today, we stand in solidarity with our neighbors in Minneapolis and across America to say: ICE, get out of our streets. We love our immigrant neighbors, and we acknowledge that they are regularly facing this danger every day. We would like to echo Governor Walz's call for peace at this moment, despite our rage and frustration at the violence directed at our peaceful resistance. However, we can't give the Administration an excuse to further occupy American cities. Peaceful demonstration DO WORK. We beg of our Democratic leaders to take evidence and document these incidents happening across the country in order to hold these agents accountable for their crimes at such a time that we are able.

Alex Pretti and Renee Good should be alive today. Our Immigrant neighbors should be with their families today. Their bravery continues on in our acts of resistance. May their memory be a blessing. We seek justice for their killers and a stop to ICE's unlawful operations against our neighbors, no matter where they came from.
